With an artist’s skill and passion, Joan made this painting in tribute to the snow geese that perished in a polluted mining pit in Montana. She beautifully captures the sensation of those geese as they once flew free through the cold of winter. Joan makes a powerful statement in the mood, palette, and grace of her work.
Dewey Peerson | MOONLIT CAR
While Dewey is a native of Kansas City, Kansas, his painting evokes memories for people everywhere. He sets a distinctive mood in this piece with the cool night sky and dramatic lighting. Dewey recalls taking “fancy art classes” back in school and receiving an honorable mention in a high school art show. To this day, painting is Dewey’s favorite and most rewarding hobby.

Rhonda is a self-taught artist who plays the piano and used to give lessons. She loves her friends, the whole Watermark team, and the beautiful scenery in her “little desert oasis.”

While Mildred has no formal art training, she has a natural talent for creating beauty and movement in her needlework. She loves to spend time with friends, listen to music, and relax in the community courtyard. Sitting outdoors on a beautiful day, she can watch the birds in flight as they serenade her for free.

Connie’s vibrant painting evokes the perfect summer day and dreamy vacations. Her brushwork and colors give the scene life, and you can almost smell the beach air. Connie is a psychotherapist and nurse who loves helping people and being part of a community. When she’s not painting, you might find her swimming, bike riding, or dog walking.

Summer’s arrival inspired Ed to capture the Fourth of July in a painting brimming with music, good food, friendship, and joy. Ed is a self-taught artist who’s been painting and making sculpture since he was 23. At age 45, he went public, joining art associations and exhibiting his work. That gave him confidence to keep growing as he explores expressionism, realism, and abstract art to this day.

While mostly self-taught, Veda took painting classes and workshops in New Mexico to build on her skills. She won an award in Florida for her vibrant rooster, which is filled with colors and brushwork that nearly jump off the page. She captured the animal’s personality, dignity, and spark. Veda enjoys reading and recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

With vibrancy and a strong design, Greg’s Big Bear Lake is even more spectacular with light beaming through the stained glass. He proudly collaborated with his granddaughter to complete this piece, which comes to life with vivid colors and dynamic shapes. Greg loves his family and the holidays. His home fills up with seasonal decorations and good spirits.

While Linda was a professional accountant, she’s always been passionate about her art. She studied with portrait and landscape artists and, later, with a French painter. She attends gallery shows and museum exhibits, continually inspired by artists she admires. Linda’s work has hung in art shows where she’s won multiple awards. The Schuttler Family Farm gives us a lofty view of the home where her husband’s family lived.
Blaine Johnson | ALABASTER CARVINGS
In 1962, Blaine began his artistic journey as a woodcarver, then moved on to work in alabaster in 1980. With his strong aesthetic vision, he infuses each piece he creates with its own personality, grace, and purpose. When Blaine broke his leg in 2015, he added knitting to his many skills. He made 300 hats that were distributed at a prison, and every associate at The Lodge at North Ogden is proud to have at least one of his hand-knitted hats.

This charming pen-and-ink drawing shows off JoAnne’s obvious talent along with her eye for detail, from the snow on the rooftops to the man with his trusty shovel. JoAnne is a woman of many talents, known as a successful real estate agent and community activist. She also loves water aerobics, snorkeling, swimming, photography, the walking club, and teaching art.
